We've designed this site to give you information to help you have an enjoyable and safe trail experience. So click in and check it out.
Trail Maps and Information
Here you'll find an Overview Map linking to Ten Map Sections. Each map section can be printed from the site.
The map pages have links to information concerning services -places to eat and sleep, rent bikes, etc.
You'll also find Directions toTrailheads, the Trail Mileage Chart, the Elevation Chart,
and What's Open/What's Not, the current construction status of the trail.
Planning a Visit
Here you'll find About the Trail which provides basic information on the trail. Preparation talks about equipment needs and more.
Sample Trips provides suggestions for day and multiple day trips as well as a PDF of Mary Shaw and Roy Weil's Linking Up, a guide to riding between Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.
The version posted on the website has updates on trail construction and services. A special part of this section is the Trip Reports. Here you'll find accounts of trail
experiences. We thank all those who have shared their trips and think you'll find them interesting. Trip Extras gives you a timeline of the corridor and a map of the top ten
geological sites on the trail. Lastly, there is information on Camping. This information is also on the trail maps under the Trail Maps and Information tab.
Events and News
This section provides information and links to events including rides. We include things along the corridor so if you have an event you would like noted,
please send it to us. We post articles that have appeared in the media under News. ATA newsletters are posted here as well.
About Us
This section of the website gives you background on the Allegheny Trail Alliance. Who We Are provides information on the ATA organizations working to build the
Great Allegheny Passage as well as a list of the photographers who have kindly let us use their photos on the website. Board and Groups lists the ATA Board of
Directors and provides contact information for the ATA organizations. Support the Trail tells how you can help and provides a form to send donations. ATA Reports
includes reports on various aspects of the trail-economic impact, interpreting the trail, and the history of the trail. Merchandise is the ATA store with Great Allegheny Passage items.
Trail Links list links to organizations and sites that we believe will be helpful.
